I debated leaving the area behind her glasses without top threads to exaggerate the look of her wearing glasses. Without additional threads within the glasses area, the fabric was puffy and detracted from the overall appearance of the quilt. In the end, I stitched over her wrinkles, and her eyes are portrayed in a more natural state.
CARSON (YOUTHFUL SKIN)
I had almost finished Carson’s face when I realized that there was something not quite right. I pulled out the original photograph and displayed it next to the quilt on my design wall. It took a while before I realized there was too much light reflecting on his right cheek.
